Dr. Jon Kanegawa

Dr. Jon Kanegawa grew up in Oahu, Hawaii. He is a graduate of the Punahou School in Honolulu. He received his BA from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and his DDS degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. 

He practiced dentistry in both Hawaii and Pennsylvania before establishing a private practice outside of Reading, PA. Dr. Kanegawa ran his practice for 30 years before relocating to the Tri-Valley area of Schuylkill County. He continued to treat patients there for almost four years. The opportunity to work in a highly patient-oriented environment combined with spending significantly more time with family is why he decided to become a dentist in Harrisburg with American Dental Care.

Barbara Boyarsky

Barbara is a dental hygienist at American Dental care in Harrisburg. She wants her patients to feel good about their dental health and teeth and strives to make her patients happy and enjoy coming to the dentist. Barbara loves working with patients to help them overcome their dental fears and wants them to come back to see us. She loves when patients make return appointments to see her. 

Outside of work, she is an avid football and New York Yankee fan.

Rose Herbst

Rose has been a Dental Hygienist since 2020. She first started in the Dental field in 2015 as an assistant and found herself gravitating towards hygiene because they had so much solo time meeting and educating patients. Her favorite part of being a hygienist is educating patients and explaining ways to help their home care or improve their current oral cavity state. 

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and cat, Toast. Some hobbies of hers include pottery, stained glass, kayaking, and hiking.

Zelly Shank

Zelly is from Arlington, Texas and has been an EFDA since 2016. Zelly has many years of experience not only in pediatric dentistry, but also in General dentistry. She enjoys putting patients at ease and explaining procedures in a patient, friendly manner. When Zelly is not placing restorations she is likely watching the Harry Potter films, Marvel films/tv shows or Star Wars films with her husband and three kids. Zelly loves sports and is a huge Dallas Cowboys/Texas Rangers fan!

Kiarra Rivera

Kiarra has been a Certified Dental Assistant since 2021. She studied at Harrisburg Area Community College in the Dental Assisting field. She joined American Dental Care right after schooling and has become our Lead Assistant here. The patient experience is her priority, and she works hard to ensure they feel comfortable in our office. Kiarra enjoys helping our patients understand and implement their treatment plans. 

When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with friends and family along with traveling and photography.
