Improving your appearance and overall oral health with cosmetic dentures is the perfect way to restore your smile and your confidence. At American Dental Center of Harrisburg, we feature a dedicated staff of oral care specialists who want you to be informed about the process of receiving cosmetic dentures.

We understand you may be seeking information regarding the procedure of getting dentures, which is why we’re providing this step-by-step guide, so you know what to expect at each stage of the process.

The Consultation

During your first visit with the dentist, they will examine your bone structure, gum tissue, and existing teeth. It may be necessary to take photos or X-rays at this point to determine if you need partial or full dentures.

Next, we will take impressions of your mouth and take measurements of your facial contours and features of your mouth to ensure a snug fit and natural-looking smile.

Initial Fitting

After your impressions are taken and the dentures have been made, they’ll be set in a wax base and inserted into your mouth. This is your opportunity to see how your new smile will look once it’s finalized. Together, you and your dentist can decide if the color, size, and tooth arrangement of your dentures meet your expectations.

Once you’ve given your dentist approval, your dentures can be fitted into their final acrylic base.  It may be necessary to adjust the base to improve fit and comfort in your mouth.

Final Fitting

At this last step of this process, your dentist will review the fit and comfort of your cosmetic dentures and make any adjustments to get them comfortably snug inside your mouth. Remember, it may take some time to get used to your new smile, but soon you’ll get so used to wearing your dentures that you’ll forget you even have them in!

At American Dental Center of Harrisburg, we’re committed to restoring our patients smiles through cosmetic dentures and our other expert dental services.
